THE PEOPLE responsible for the management of the current roadworks on Toodyay Road appear to have lost sight of the purpose of the upgrade being to aid passage of vehicles to and from Perth.
The seven to eight minute time phase on the stop light in both directions is excessive, particularly when very often there are only a few vehicles travelling in one direction and no one is using the one lane for much of that time.

This length of time is certainly more for the convenience of the traffic controllers and not for the travelling public.
A detour lane of a widened shoulder on the south bound side of the road works would enable traffic to pass effectively in both directions while this work is in progress and no one need be waiting for so long.
While on the topic of shire roadworks, having recently driven the length of Lover’s Lane on the new sealed surface, I am bemused as to what would give that piece of road a priority over any number of unsealed roads within the shire that actually have more residences, school buses and Silver Chain users.
