Toodyay Ag Show – simply perfect (Nov 2025 edition)
This year the show had a four-legged mascot in the form of Beau the Blue Heeler puppy.
The young hound (offsider to Jamie Ratcliffe at Avon Valley Water Cartage) was a popular attraction and a focal point of more than a few photographs.
However, behind the scenes, organisers faced major challenges and Karen Dore, President of the Toodyay Agricultural Society (TAS), emphasised the difficulties in putting on the show with a depleted team.
“This year has been particularly hard,” Ms Dore said.
“We had a committee of 12 instead of the usual 18 to 24.
“At 10 o’clock last night (before show day), there may have been four of us that had enough, but here we are.”
Despite the reduced numbers, the small group of volunteers delivered a successful event, now in its 171st year.
President Dore made a call for more volunteers to come forward for next year’s show.

“The more volunteers we get next year, the better,” she said.
“Our annual general meeting is on the second Monday in February, please come along.”
The Toodyay Agricultural Show also enjoys the support of businesses, both big and small.
Chalice Mining is a major sponsor of the event and chief executive officer Alex Dorsch highlighted the company’s commitment to the community.
“We’re developing a major project in the Shire of Toodyay,” he said.
“We’re a long-term sponsor of the Toodyay Agricultural Show, committed to sponsor as well next year, proud to be in the community and obviously developing a major mining project.
“It’s a long-term project that’s going to deliver a lot of benefits for the community, so we are very happy to be here to engage with and be part of our local community.”
The 2025 Toodyay Show rounded out with the crowd looking skyward as a finale of fireworks exploded over the showground oval.
So ended another successful show that despite the challenges, underscores the importance of community involvement in keeping local traditions alive.
A tradition that needs more volunteers to ensure the show’s continued success in the years to come.
