Footy training followed by a three-course meal and a beer

THE MORTLOCK Football and Netball seasons get underway on April 13 with the first match on April away to Gingin.
Then after Easter we have our first home match on April 27 vs Calingiri.
It’s a new look football and netball lineup from previous years with a steady influx of new players joining the club over preseason.
We welcome experienced football coach Russell ‘Bomber’ Thompson who has made an immediate impact around the club.
It has been a gruelling pre-season that started early January and we’re looking forward to the ‘real season’ begining.
In March we had a scratch match v Lancelin in Ocean Reef and then a pre-season carnival against Goomalling, Wongan Ballidu and Calingiri.
It’s fair to say teams will still need to jell together with the mix of new players and as that happens, with more games, skills and match play will improve.
On Friday nights we have successfully teamed up with the Toodyay Locals Care at the footy oval pavilion who provide a three-course meal at the pavilion, whilst we operate the bar and put Friday night footy
Footy training followed by a three-course meal and a beeron the big screen.
It’s a great opportunity to take a night off cooking and let the kids run around.
Off field we’ve assembled an all-player committee, which will have it’s challenges on matchday as we juggle playing and organising matchday.
We are still on the lookout for the key office bearer position of Secretary and Netball requires an umpire for the season.
Helpers will also be needed on matchday for other roles such as goal umpires, timekeepers, boundary, etc.
Please let us know if you would like to help keep our club thriving.
