Communication breakdown

APPARENTLY, due to the undulating terrain, the existing Optus mobile phone tower in Julimar has difficult or void areas of telecommunications within only a kilometre.
In other words – hills block the mobile phone signal.

It therefore stands to reason the proposed Telstra tower in Julimar on an even lower site and with elevated land to the north and south, will have much the same problem.

In places it will simply depend on which company you are with as to whether you will get through or not, if at all.
If we must have another tower it should be put in an optimum position for the widest coverage to avoid people screaming for yet another down the track.

Atop the hill, on cleared land adjacent to the property where the silver colossus of an NBN tower already blights the landscape, would be a good choice.

Lessons should have been learnt from the Optus tower.

An isolated Telstra customer in dire straits will needlessly suffer – or worse – due to the poor positioning of the Telstra tower.

As for emergency services, a satellite phone with each vehicle would be the most effective way of relieving all fears of telecommunications ‘black spots’.
