Old specs wanted
THIS month, boxes will be placed at Toodyay Pharmacy, St Stephen’s Anglican and St John the Baptist Catholic Churches for donations of your no-longer needed eyeware; no cases please.
The donated items will be collected and sent to two WA prisons – Casuarina and Acacia.
Inmates have been taught to dismantle, clean, repair and refract the lenses and these are then passed on to the Fred Hollows Foundation and other charitable organisations who export them to overseas countries.
Prescription glasses and plain dark glasses are also acceptable.
Should you have old pharmacy reading glasses, these are very useful too.
Your donation has a two-fold benefit – to the prison inmates who have been trained to do a very valuable task and for the people who receive the spectacles.
If you have any queries, phone me on 0405 242 483 and I will endeavour to assist you.
